The Foundation was established in California in January of 2009. Its goal is the accelerating innovation in the geothermal sector. Through the use of an incentive prize the foundation will bring investment, innovation and new practitioners to the field. Participants are needed to fill out the work. Organizations are needed for their institutional capacity, philanthropy and legitimacy.

The Foundation is led by Lawrence Molloy and Michael Lindsay. A Technical Advisory Board is being assembled with Geothermal Leaders like Ormat, Baker Hughes Centrilift, Alta-Rock, the GRC, Hot Dry Rocks,  Islandic and Australian partners.

Currently we are looking for individual and institutional letters of support and in-kind contributions. We want you to join our effort. The Foundation for Geothermal Innovation was created to accelerate innovation and deployment of geothermal technologies. We are developing The Global Geothermal Challenge to serve as a platform to commercialize and manufacture the next generation downhole geothermal pump.
